Built for independent producers who carry the full weight of their production's finances.
We kept hitting the same wall — a polished budget with nothing behind it that could answer an investor's questions. We knew the solution had to be a product, not another spreadsheet. This is that story.
Every independent producer hits the same wall.
You spend weeks building a budget. It's detailed, it's accurate, and the numbers add up. Then an investor sits across the table and asks: “Can you walk me through the Waterfall?” And the budget — the document you poured your energy into — has nothing to say.
The Finance Plan lives in a different spreadsheet. The Cashflow is somewhere else. The Recoupment model hasn't been updated since the budget changed. The cost isn't the time it takes to reconcile them — though that's real. The cost is the confidence you walk in without.
There's the cost of sitting across from an investor at 9am knowing the documents you sent three days ago might not reflect last week's changes. The cost of calling wrap and knowing, before you've even opened the spreadsheet, that there might not be enough money left to finish post.
Independent filmmakers are running the finances of a small business. The tools available to them were built for either Hollywood studios or no one at all.

Cost to find out if loqyn is right for your next project
We built the tool we needed — and couldn't find.
loqyn is the only end-to-end film finance planning platform built specifically for independent producers. Starting from a single target spend figure, it generates a complete finance stack — Budget, Finance Plan, Cashflow, Drawdown Schedule, Recoupment Forecast, and Waterfall — all connected in real time. One source of truth. One update flows everywhere. No re-keying, no version drift, no Budget_Final_v4_ACTUAL_USE_THIS.xlsx.
Mission: empower filmmakers to budget effectively, plan strategically, and walk into every investor conversation knowing their numbers are right.
⚙️
Automation with precision
Industry-proven cost ratios — not AI estimates. Intelligent auto-calculation and dynamic finance layering that bond companies and financiers trust.
🎯
Design simplicity
Clean, web-native UX designed for non-technical producers. No installs, no spreadsheet skills required, no steep learning curve.
🎬
Credibility through expertise
Built by a producer with real-world finance experience across features, documentaries, and incentive regions. Not by developers who interviewed producers.
A name with roots.
loqyn
/ˈloʊ.kwɪn/ — pronounced LO-kwin
From Old English elements: lēoh (“light, brightness”) combined with -wyn (“joy, friend, blessed one”). A reconstructed name consistent with Anglo-Saxon naming patterns — akin to Edwyn or Ælfwyn — carrying connotations of illumination and companionship.
Independent producers operate in uncertainty: incomplete information, shifting finance structures, investor conversations that can go either way. loqyn is designed to be the guiding light through the financial complexity — from the first budget line to the last investor report.
Three principles that shaped every product decision.
01
Built for independent producers — not studio accountants.
The dominant tools in this space were built for Hollywood infrastructure: production accountants on studio lots, with finance departments and institutional support behind them. Independent producers are managing complex finance structures alone, often with other people's money. loqyn was built for them — not adapted from something that wasn't.
02
The budget is the beginning — not the end.
Every competitor stops at the budget. The budget is essential — but it doesn't answer the investor's questions. loqyn starts at the budget and keeps going: through the Finance Plan, the Cashflow, the Drawdown Schedule, the Recoupment Forecast, and the Waterfall. The complete financial case for a film, not just the cost plan.
03
One source of truth — always.
Version chaos is not a personal failing. It's what happens when a film's finances are spread across disconnected tools. Budget_Final_v4_ACTUAL_USE_THIS.xlsx is a symptom, not a cause. Change one number in loqyn and every connected output updates — instantly, automatically, without re-keying. One source of truth is not a feature. It's the whole point.

loqyn was built from the inside out — by a producer who had lived the problem, not a developer who had studied it. Sean has spent his career on both sides of that equation: as a screen producer, writer, and author of Take One (Currency Press), with screen industry roots including distribution and marketing at the Australian Film Finance Corporation — and as a project leader on enterprise digital transformation programmes for major institutions.
loqyn is what happens when they converge. Not a spreadsheet template, not a tool built by developers who interviewed producers. A platform designed from the inside out.
